The new (and not so new) faces of the Supreme Court
A year ago, Claudia Sheinbaum was elected president with the most votes of any Mexican president in history. This week, she celebrated another election—one that only the strength of her mandate could have brought to fruition.
Not even Morena expected much voter participation in the first judicial election, but the 12% that the INE has calculated (which is effectively 9% because of the number of botched and protest ballots) is a very poor showing—the lowest of any federal election since 2000.
